The UNC Charlotte ADVANCE Office serves as the structural focal point for all ADVANCE program components, as well as for other campus initiatives focused on equity and diversity. The ADVANCE Office centralizes and expands faculty development and mentoring efforts and support policy changes that promote the success and satisfaction of all faculty. The ADVANCE Office will also work with Human Resources to improve work-life issues for all employees. The office is located in Denny 117, and houses the following staff:
  • Yvette Huet

    is the Faculty Director of the ADVANCE Program at UNC Charlotte. Dr. Huet is a Professor of Biology and also the Faculty Development Coordinator for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Her research interest include the role of estrogen in immune function and liver disease; effects of neonatal exposure to environmental estrogens on adult disease and roles of nitric oxide in early pregnancy.
  • Kerrie Stewart

    is the Special Assistant to the Council on University Community in the division of Academic Affairs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She supports the Council's efforts to create a diverse learning environment, and is currently working on the development of a campus diversity plan. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1998 and is completing a Master of Arts in sociology. Her research interests include race, gender, and class intersectionality, feminist theory, and cultural studies.
  • Doreen Smith Koonce

    is the Administrative Assistant for the ADVANCE Program at UNC Charlotte. Ms. Koonce has experience in a wide variety of adminstrative support positions. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Clark College in Atlanta.
